Quick summary of tonights trail ride

June 21, 2007

I just returned from the trail ride.

In summary: I now have one arm with scratches on it from the hanging briar’s along the trail. When I showed the guys they both said ooooh. Removed a couple of briar’s from arm. Wheels on bike slid off the trail causing me to fall right down. Knee took the most impact. Minor cut on knee. One co-worker/rider looked as if he might have a heart attack at any moment at various points on the ride. He persevered. Lots of tight turns going up hill over logs and tree roots. Big dog came running out of the woods and growled a little. Dog ran off.  Managed creek crossings and even a rock drop off. Was slapped in the face by lots of overgrown vegetation. Closed my eyes many times to avoid briar’s in the eyes. Closed eyes made it hard to see the trail.

Fun was had by all.

End summary.

I need a bath bad.

Spring anyone

March 21, 2007

I don’t know what is going on but I signed into my email and found 58 messages waiting for me. Crazy stuff going on with our mountain biking forums which leads to oodles of emails between the officers and the ELC committee. I haven’t even begun to trudge through them all yet. I have answered one email, and that was to a friend whom I am trying to talk into either Kayaking through the possible Thunderstorm on Saturday, or hiking the 8 mile loop … I am game for either. What does that say about me?

Hill Repeats. Pulled the bike out this afternoon after work to indulge myself in the 77 degree sunny warm breeze blowing, more like late spring type of weather we are having. And off I went to the park to do Hill Repeats on the bike while listening to Amy Ray on the Ipod. I was listening to her yesterday at the gym whilst I did my treadmill run, and it occurred to me her music really is good to exercise with. And the Hill repeats will work in my favor when I am riding up those hills on the trail cranking the bike over tree roots and other unmovable in the way objects. I just know it will. That’s what I tell myself anyway.

Funny thing is, I had Amy Ray turned up as loud as it would go while I was putting the bike onto the car after the ride. And these two dogs, I don’t know what type of dogs, had come up behind me barking themselves hoarse. I never heard them until they were yapping at my heels. This means I didn’t react at all and by the time I had turned around asking them what they were barking about they had resorted to having the most dejected looks on their faces, as if they were totally let down that their presence had not elicited a response out of me. I almost thought about climbing onto the car and acting as if I were scared, just to give them back their dignity.

Okay I have emails to read.
